Get More Life Out of Your Screw & Nut Assemblies with Xtek

screw nut assemblyWhen a screw and nut assembly starts to wear out, it can put your operation at risk for reduced performance, unplanned downtime, and costly delays. That’s why many mills and industrial facilities across the country turn to Xtek when it’s time for a rebuild.

For decades, we’ve specialized in rebuilding both large mill screws and smaller edger screws with precision and reliability. Whether your application is steel, aluminum, or another heavy industrial process, our team has the expertise to bring your screw assemblies back to peak performance—often faster and more affordably than a full replacement.

A Thorough Evaluation—Every Time

Each rebuild begins with a comprehensive inspection process to evaluate the condition of your assembly and determine the best path forward. Here’s what you can expect:

  • High-pressure wash to remove built-up dirt, grease, and debris.
  • Complete disassembly of the screw and nut components.
  • Visual and dimensional inspections to assess wear, damage, and tolerance issues.
  • Wet magnetic particle inspections of the screw, carried out by certified inspectors, ensuring cracks or flaws are identified.
  • Dry penetrant inspection of the nut when required.
  • Thread lead measurements to verify if the screw threads are still within repairable range.

This upfront evaluation allows our Service Engineering team to make informed recommendations based on actual wear—not guesswork.

Custom Repair Plans Backed by Experience

Once the inspection is complete, our engineers develop a tailored repair scope to restore your assembly’s performance and fit. A typical rebuild might include:

  • Skim machining and re-chasing of worn screw threads to restore proper geometry and thread thickness.
  • Buffing or machining the screw nose, depending on its condition.
  • Manufacturing a new bronze nut, followed by precision thread chasing to ensure proper clearance and fit.
  • Assembly of the nut onto the screw, with backlash verified and adjusted to spec.
  • Shrink wrapping and shipment preparation to ensure your rebuilt assembly arrives clean and ready to reinstall.

In-House Capabilities for Speed and Quality

Unlike other repair shops, Xtek performs every step of the process in-house. Our facility is equipped with full-service heat-treatment, engineering, and machining capabilities under one roof. That means faster turnaround times, tighter quality control, and the ability to respond quickly when your operation is on the line.

Whether you’re facing a scheduled maintenance window or an unexpected failure, Xtek is ready to get your operation back up and running with minimal disruption.
