Xtek has staffed our service and custom gear repair and reconditioning business
with dedicated mechanical and metallurgical engineers who specialize in gearbox
repair and manufacture of new, upgraded gearboxes. No matter the original
equipment manufacturer, Xtek is capable of providing a complete analysis of your
existing gearbox and making sound recommendations to improve performance. Our
gearbox repair processes include the following:
Initial observations
of a used gearbox.
Incoming Inspection — A service
engineer will review the gearbox "as received" in our facility to identify
opportunities for improving performance. The gearbox is then completely
disassembled, and prepared for evaluation.
NDT inspected for
cracks that may lead
to future problems.
Mechanical and Non-Destructive Testing
— A complete mechanical and non-destructive test is performed on every critical
component. As a gear manufacturer, we utilize our gear inspection and
manufacturing equipment to evaluate the integrity of the gearing and housing.
Detailed Report Noting our Findings,
Recommendations and Firm Gearbox Repair Costs — As part of our
evaluation of your gearbox, our engineers often provide recommendations to
improve the performance and capability.
Used gearing re-machined to reestablish profile.
Manufacturing and Gearbox Repair
— The housing, gearing and other mechanical components are repaired or replaced
to meet and often exceed the OEM design. New bearings and seals are installed.

Assembly and Test — At assembly,
the gear contact patterns are verified to ensure proper load distribution. Your
gearbox will be run tested under no load to monitor vibration, temperatures,
noise and the integrity of the lubrication system.
