Crane Wheels

For the last 40 years, the Xtek TS6 Crane Wheel has been installed around the world, in overhead crane and industrial rail applications. Typically, customers will report dramatic increases in wheel life performance of 3 to 8 times when using the TS6 wheel for the first time. Additionally, the vertical load carrying capacity is increased by 40% over common industrial crane wheels.

The Xtek TS6 Crane Wheel contains the mechanical and metallurgical properties that attack the 4 modes of failure that is common to crane wheels used in heavy industrial applications - Flange Wear, Flange Fracture, Tread Wear and Tread Spalling. Using forgings made from vacuum degassed medium carbon steel, the Xtek Heat Treating results in a 60 HRc surface hardness that extends 5 mm below the surface while maintaining flange ductility to prevent breakage.

Benefit is also attained in crane rail life. When switching from a soft wheel to a TS6 Wheel, testing has confirmed that using the hard 60 HRc surface on a soft rail will increase the wear life of the rail by a factor of 30.
